Good Tree Control?

Does anyone have a good suggestion for an inexpensive TreeView control. I don’t need a lot of fancy features like drag and drop, just a heirarchical tree that supports links, images, checkboxes, and XML loading. I looked around and I could only find very poor implimentations or products that had more many bells and whistles than I need and were over $200 US.

So I whipped one up last week with those basic features, but then I wanted to stop and make sure there wasn’t a comparable one in the $50 range.

  1. ComponentArt Web.UI really is a brilliant product and the tree is the best I have seen. We started with Obout, briefly tried out a few others, but the programmability and easy of use (let alone the wealth of samples and the great tech support) were really superior to anything else on the market, IMHO. Talk to them, I am sure they’ll make you a good price!!

  2. I tried out squishyTREE, but as far as I could tell it’s a PostBack only control and I’m looking for a JavaScript control that can expand collapse without PostBack.

I love ComponentArt’s work (and their marketing/web design is top notch too). The r.a.d. Controls are really great too (r.a.d. editor is very high-end, but I hope FreeTextBox can fill the medium market for HTML editors).

Maybe I’ll keep hacking away at what I’ve made and see what I come up with.

  3. try the tree control in dotnetnuke 3.0 … it is a nice standalone component as well as an interactive dnn control.. 😀 best of all its FREE and written by our beloved dnn core teamer joe brinkman
